THE PENNSYLVANIA RAILROAD
                   MOOSUP,CT
                      1989-2000
YOU ARE THE
VISITOR TO ENTER

This is my first free-lanced model of the Pennsy Middle Division. Construction of the railroad began in 1989 and was
completed in 1995. The layout was 12' X 15' with a duck-under entrance, which led to its demise. It operated under
Cab Control with two mainline and one yard cab. Auxillary control consisted of walk-around throttles with memory
for the mainline. The bench work was open grid covered with plywood and homosote. The terrain was hardshell with
hydrocal plaster and plaster of paris. The shell was made from the hydrocal with the rock castings being made from
the plaster of paris. All of the roads were made from plaster of paris with a true to scale six inch centerline crown.

The structures were commercial kits, scratch-built and kit-bashed. All of the structures were custom painted and weathered
to some degree. The railroad had 467 hand painted figures ( thanks to my kids Michaela and Ian), 227 vehicles, eighty-
seven building structures and four bridges. Animation consisted of interior lighting, street lighting and carnival rides.
The rolling stock roster included 103 freight cars, 17 passenger cars and eight pieces of maintenance of way equipment.
Motive power was primarily first and second generation diesels with some steam power. The setting was Saturday, middle
of the summer in the late 1950's.

The railroad was dismantled in the summer of 2000 to allow for expansion of the train room, which now accomodates
my new version of the Pennsy's Middle Division. All of the structures, people, vehicles and rolling stock were salvaged
and have been or will be used on the railroad. The new lay-out is 16' X 22' and has 667 LF of mainline and yard track.
The lay-out has been designed for DCC but is presently running under a single cab and a single block. All of the track is
laid, the fascia is on and the scenery is about fifty percent complete..
